A lean wilderness survival thriller with real teeth

David Ayer drops a Special Forces officer and his combat dog Odin into the Alaskan wild after a plane crash, and the result is a tight, high-stakes fight against the elements. Brad Pitt and J.K. Simmons anchor a man-versus-nature grind that earns its payoffs, and the scale of that frozen landscape demands a big screen. It lands at 85% on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.5 on IMDb.

Pure fists-and-fury fighting spectacle

Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li get pulled into the World Warrior Tournament, a brutal clash of fists with a deadly conspiracy underneath. This is wall-to-wall combat that leans hard into kinetic action, with Andrew Koji and David Dastmalchian in the mix. See it big and loud for the full impact of every hit.

Predator

A returning action classic that still hits hard

This is a returning classic worth catching: John McTiernan sends a team of elite commandos into a Central American jungle, where an extraterrestrial hunter turns them into prey. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers headline a muscular, high-tension chase that holds a 7.8 on IMDb. Screenings are thin this week, so plan ahead if you want to see it.
